GARY ALLEN LAW
Landlord-Tenant Practice is Serious, Technical Business
Attorney Gary Allen’s Landlord-Tenant practice focuses on tenant rights and safe and sanitary housing.
Rental housing law is a detail-oriented legal minefield for both tenants and landlords. Eviction cases have shorter deadlines than most civil cases, and the Uniform Summary Process Rules are less flexible than conventional civil procedure rules. Paperwork mistakes and defects can be fatal and force a landlord to start over, and tenants who miss filing deadlines can find themselves at great disadvantage in defending an eviction.
Gary is well-versed in landlord-tenant law and legal strategy. He is also one of the co-authors of Massachusetts’ foremost tenant practice manuals, Legal Tactics, published by the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute.
While Gary does not represent landlords in eviction actions, landlords (and even landlord attorneys) frequently seek advice and counsel from Gary because of his deep knowledge of the intricate laws that come into play in landlord-tenant practice, including G.L.c. 239 § 8A, G.L.c. 186 § 14, G.L.c. 186 § 15B, G.L.c. 93A, and 105 CMR 410.000.
